Affirma Consulting Participates in Seattle Works Day 2017
Affirma Consulting completed their participation in Seattle Works Day 2017. The all-day event on June 17th brought together local companies and volunteers in an exciting volunteer effort. As one of 62 different teams, Affirma Consulting spent the day volunteering at a local non-profit that benefits the community.
As part of their volunteer assignment, Affirma Consulting worked with West Side Baby in White Center. West Side Baby, local charity in West Seattle, provides essential child care supplies such as diapers, clothing and child raising equipment to in-need children and families within the community. West Side Baby collects gently used items and prepares and distributes the items to qualified recipients. Last year, West Side Baby provided goods and services to over 35,000 recipients in King County.
For their assignment, Affirma Consulting performed quality checks on donated items, filled orders from social workers, and moved and displayed items and donations on shelves. Affirma Consulting was one of many local businesses that gave their time for a successful day.
Overall, 62 teams of 854 volunteers chipped in over 3,000 combined hours of community service. These 3,000 hours were spread across 56 different non-profits. Along with helping out at West Side Baby, volunteers also helped to remove invasive species from 14 community gardens, prepared meals at 4 local food banks, assisted at 6 adult and senior living communities, improved playgrounds at local schools and also restored 9 community parks in King County.
